Legacy Giving: Planned Giving and Bequests

As a special friend of the International Children’s Fund (ICF), you may want to consider including a bequest to ICF in your will or living trust.  This would represent your ultimate charitable gift to help continue the programs that you have been supporting during your lifetime.

Sample Language

Once you have determined that you would like to make a bequest to the International Children’s Fund, the following language can be used in your will or living trust:

  • An Unrestricted Bequest: A gift that can be used where need is greatest

“I give, devise, and bequeath to the International Children’s Fund (Tax ID:  39-1303430) located at 619 Main St. Neenah, WI  54956, the sum of $_______ or ____ percent of real or personal property herein described, to be used for the general purposes of the organization at the discretion of its Board of Directors”.

  • A Restricted Bequest: A gift that is intended to support a specific area of interest

“I give, devise, and bequeath to the International Children’s Fund (Tax ID:  39-1303430) located at 619 Main St. Neenah, WI  54956, the sum of $_______ or ____ percent of real or personal property herein described, with the intension that it be used for ______________________________________.  If however the intended use of the bequest is no longer available or supported by ICF, the bequest should be considered an unrestricted bequest that will be used for the general purpose of the organization at the discretion of its Board of Directors”.

  • A Residuary Bequest:  A gift of the residual estate after all other bequest/obligations have been paid

“I give, devise, and bequeath to the International Children’s Fund (Tax ID:  39-1303430) located at 619 Main St. Neenah, WI  54956,  ____ percent of the residue of my estate to be used for the general purposes of the organization at the discretion of its Board of Directors”.

A charitable gift can be designated in the body of a will or as an amendment (codicil).  A codicil eliminates the need to rewrite your will.
