How We Work
Our Unique Model Delivers Maximum Impact
For over 50 years, the International Children’s Fund has created trusting relationships with devoted indigenous pastors and community leaders who are deeply rooted in the rural villages we serve. ICF supplies trusted partners with food, medicines, supplies, and funds to support their missions. We are currently working with 16 partners across the globe to help bring food, water, education, medical aid, and orphanages to support desperately poor children and their families.
Our efforts also embrace self-sufficiency initiatives through education, farming, and micro-commerce projects. Our “boots-on-the-ground” approach allows for each dollar to be stretched to its fullest potential, ensuring that 99.8% of all donations directly benefit program services – a testament to our commitment to efficiency and transparency.

Founded by Donkor, the Africa Assistance Plan addresses the needs of Ghana’s poorest. Initiatives include an elementary school, food distribution, and clean water projects. Donkor also shares God’s love through a radio program, a Bible school, and a church. His “Healthy Child, Happy Child” program addresses student nutrition and health, improving educational outcomes. Donkor’s efforts are supported by his daughter, Rose Meda, whose dedication and skills amplify the impact of these vital programs.

Ghansah
For over 30 years, Ghansah has overseen two orphanages and a school in Kumasi, Ghana helping thousands of desperately poor children. Our mission is to uplift and transform the lives of these children through comprehensive support in education, nourishment, and faith. We are committed to providing essential resources such as clean water through well installations, vital medical care via our clinic in Tema, and nutritious meals to ensure their well-being. By fostering educational opportunities and spiritual growth, we aim to empower these young lives, offering them a brighter future and a pathway to reach their full potential.
Liberia

Boakai Paasewe
Since 2008, Pastor Passewe has dedicated his mission in Africa to transforming the lives of underprivileged children through comprehensive support and care. Our mission focuses on the education of over 250 disadvantaged children, ensuring they receive the academic and personal development needed to break the cycle of poverty. We also provide essential resources for 25 orphans, offering them not just shelter, but a nurturing environment where they can thrive. Our commitment extends beyond education to include a robust feeding program, which addresses nutritional needs, and clothing to ensure dignity and comfort. By integrating these critical services, we strive to empower individuals and uplift entire communities, fostering sustainable change and hope for a brighter future.

Emmanuel & Ruth Gyamfi
Emmanuel and Ruth founded and currently oversee the Great Commission Victory Ministries. With the help of ICF, this mission has provided a broad range of educational and healthcare services to desperately poor children and their families in Monrovia, Liberia. These services include providing crucial healthcare to thousands without alternative access through the New Community Health Center. They also include providing primary and secondary education through the New Life School and Victory Life Academy. Jointly we are currently in the process of constructing the Victory University for Women which is expected to begin operations during 2026 and will provide young women the opportunity to obtain the education and skills needed to lead their most productive lives. Additionally, Emmanuel and Ruth manage a large warehouse that receives shipments of food, clothing, pharmaceuticals, mosquito nets, and other supplies provided by ICF and distributes these materials to all our missions in Liberia.

Maxwell
Maxwell’s mission in Liberia is driven by a profound commitment to transforming the lives of desperately poor children through the power of faith, education, and nourishment. We believe that every child, regardless of their circumstances, deserves the opportunity to thrive. By providing essential resources such as nutritious meals, access to quality education, and spiritual support, we aim to uplift these vulnerable communities and empower children to break the cycle of poverty. Through our dedicated efforts, we strive to instill hope, foster resilience, and create a brighter future where each child can realize their full potential.

Ralph & Etta Gelego
Founded by Pastor Ralph Gelego in 1997, in response to the devastation of the Liberian Civil War, My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Orphanage has served as a sanctuary for children affected by poverty and loss. Starting with a simple playground, Ralph created a space of safety and joy, eventually partnering with ICF to purchase and develop a 10-acre campus that now includes an orphanage, church, clinic, school, and a library, as well as animal husbandry and agricultural projects. Here, desperately poor children find a nurturing environment with education and developmental opportunities, guided by Ralph and his wife Etta’s parental support. MBK graduates have achieved success in fields like healthcare, education, and sports, proving the boundless potential of these resilient youths. Many of these graduates have used their success to support Pastor Ralph’s efforts to help other desperately poor children and their families.

Rebecca Cole
Launched in 2020 by Rebecca Cole, Feeding the Starving Children addresses the dire needs of impoverished children in Africa. Operating from Rebecca’s home with a committed team of ten, the mission provides food, clothing, medicine, and education to over 500 desperately poor children. With the support of ICF, this initiative continues to grow and thrive, ensuring that these children have the resources to learn and prosper.
India

CMC Studd
In South India, our mission, in partnership with CMC Studd, is to create a nurturing environment through a variety of community-focused initiatives. We conduct Vacation Bible Schools and Sunday School programs, fostering spiritual growth and education among children. Our church serves as a cornerstone for these activities, while our outreach includes distributing food, clothing, and books to orphans and families in need. Through these efforts, we aim to provide holistic support, nurture young minds, and strengthen the bonds of community and faith. While our ministry includes spiritual teaching, receiving aid is never contingent on faith. Studds role as a social worker and evangelist exemplifies his commitment to both community support and spiritual outreach.
Pakistan

Daud Parvez
Founded in 2020 by Pastor Daud Parvez, Fountain of Hope Ministries is focused on providing clean water in Pakistan’s remote areas. With the support of ICF, Daud has installed nearly 50 water wells, benefiting tens of thousands by preventing waterborne diseases and reducing the time spent collecting water. This initiative allows children more opportunities for education and adults with the opportunity to focus on other aspects of providing for their families. Providing local access to clean water is a catalyst for a better future.
Togo

Geoffrey Azonwougan
Growing up as an orphan himself, Geoffrey has committed his life to helping other orphans to have a better life. During the last 5 years, with the support of ICF, Geoffrey has expanded his mission to include an orphanage, a school, sustainable food supplies, and most recently a clinic. Today, his mission supports over 230 orphans and 75 adults, including outreach to Togo’s underserved Albino community. KCO provides essential resources like water, food, clothing, and educational supplies, nurturing a supportive community. Sustainable agricultural practices, fishponds, and micro commerce (including a shoemaking operation from recycled materials and a sewing project), promote economic self-sufficiency. The most recent addition to the mission is a medical clinic which provides vital healthcare services to those with no other place to turn.
Uganda
George Kasharu
Since meeting in Nairobi in 1978, Pastor George Kasharu and Dr. David Bruenning, founder of ICF, have partnered to help desperately poor children in Uganda. His orphanage has helped countless children but that was just the beginning. His mission includes community outreach and micro commerce. In Jinja’s Mafubira Slums, Pastor Kasharu provides lifesaving food aid, distributes Mosquito nets and fosters hope among its 70,000 residents. The mission also includes a micro commerce sewing project that empowers women and the “differently abled” persons to build a better life. Kasharu’s legacy continues through his son, Peterson, in partnership with the International Children’s Fund.

Peterson Kasharu
Pastor Peterson Kasharu, following his father’s legacy, established ICF Uganda in 2018, directing a volunteer-driven effort that provides life-saving aid to 150,000 children and over 20,000 adults. His outreach extends far beyond Jinja, traversing tough terrains to provide critical supplies and to teach sustainable practices in education, agriculture and animal husbandry in remote villages. Initiatives like seed distribution and goat projects promote long-term food security and economic empowerment, particularly for women. Additionally, health programs include the distribution of essential medicines for deworming, jigger eradication, and mosquito nets to reduce the risk of malaria and other life threatening disease.
Kenya

Peter Sila
Since meeting Dr. David Bruenning in 1981, Pastor Peter Sila has dramatically impacted the lives of desperately poor children and their families through the Open Gate of Hope Projects. Located in the Kibera Slums in Nyrobi Kenya—one of the harshest environments in the world – Peter rescues orphaned children, providing them with food, clothing, and an education. Additionally, 30 miles away in Machakos County, he has established a nurturing community for over 120 children, integrating education, animal husbandry, and an agriculture project to break the cycle of poverty and help support local needs.
