Victory University for Women: Empowering Liberia’s Future Leaders
The International Children’s Fund has partnered with Great Commission Victory Ministries International to introduce Victory University for Women, a women’s university in Liberia committed to transforming lives through education. On six acres in Sewebgeh Township, the Victory University for Women broke ground on August 1, 2021.
In 2022, Liberia ranked 161st in gender equality, among the lowest five globally, with the largest factor being very low secondary education rates for women compared to men. This university represents a pivotal shift in educational opportunities for women in a country plagued by gender disparities in education.

A Promise of Opportunity
Traditionally, girls in Liberia have been confined to roles that limit their potential. Our university aims to redefine these roles, offering women the choice and means to shape their own futures through education. Scheduled to open with the capacity to serve up to 3,000 students, Victory University will offer diverse career opportunities, qualified certificates, diplomas, and degree programs in all major fields of study including science, business, art, sports, nursing, leadership, and theology. Our goal is to equip these young women with the necessary skills to succeed and lead in their communities, breaking the cycle of poverty and contributing to a more prosperous Liberia.

Where We’re At
Thanks to a recent gift of $70,000, we were able to place major orders for essential building materials from China—including tile, wiring, plumbing fixtures, ceiling panels, and door sets. These shipments are scheduled to begin arriving in Liberia by July 2025, propelling us toward the final stages of construction. The focus is currently on interior construction and finishing, with an official building walk-through scheduled between October and November 2025. Total construction progress is approximately 90% complete.
-Plastering work is nearly finished
-The ceiling structure has been installed, with final board installation underway
-The first layer of painting is being applied throughout the facility
-First-floor windows are currently being fabricated locally
With just $77,000 needed to reach full completion, the project is on track for an August 2026 grand opening.

About The Project Leaders
Emmanuel & Ruth Gyamfi
Emmanuel and Ruth are two of our devoted partners in Monrovia, Liberia. Together, they run Great Commission Victory Ministries, managing several initiatives. At the New Community Health Center, they provide crucial healthcare to thousands without alternative access. The Gyamfi’s lead educational initiatives through the New Life School, Victory Life Academy, and an emerging all-girls University, empowering young women. Additionally, they manage the warehouse that receives shipments from our headquarters and distribute mosquito nets, clothing, school supplies, medical supplies, pharmaceuticals and food donations, providing aid to those in desperate need.
