March Updates

While it’s still snowing in parts of the US, many African children are returning to school. Through the diligent efforts of our local ICF partners, you are there, providing meals, school supplies, medical treatment, and more. Together we’re building a brighter future for those in greatest need. Education is key to helping these kids overcome poverty and empowering these children to bring change to their communities. Isn’t it humbling to think that you and I have the power to help achieve this change?

Your gifts of $10, $20, and even more add up to create a HUGE impact on those that we serve.

Your donation is truly an investment in a young life. It reminds a child that SOMEONE truly cares. Your gift will tell a child that he or she matters to us – and to God. What a huge message of encouragement and support!

Indeed, God knows the plans and purposes He has for each child. Think of the biblical story of Queen Esther that tells of an obscure young girl empowered to bring freedom and change to her people. We pray these children become culture-changers. With God, all things are possible!

As we move into 2020, we’re excited to report that we have developed a new ministry partnership with Pastor Geoffrey of the Kingdom Care Orphanage in Togo, West Africa. Pastor Geoffrey and his volunteer team regularly serve more 85 orphans at this facility each day – providing food, clothes, education, and, most of all, love.

“There are many more needs,” says Pastor Geoffrey. “We have 150 more children in the surrounding communities that are waiting for our help.”

Kingdom Care ministry operates a school and provides clothes, shoes, school supplies, and three meals a day for the children in their care. The all-volunteer staff consists of five widows and two men.

Things are difficult in Togo! There is growing instability! Pastor Geoff requests: “Please pray that God would bring peace to the country of Togo.

Please also pray for our provision and safety as we offer discipleship projects in the surrounding communities; it is a far walk to reach communities in the bush.”

Togo is a small country in West Africa with a population of approximately 8 million, where 70% of the rural population lives below the poverty line, and one in eight children will not reach their 5th birthday. Suffice it to say; there is a tremendous need in Togo.

As you know, ICF is committed to making sustainable improvements in the lives that we serve – leading toward selfsufficiency. ICF’s partnership with Pastor Geoffrey will begin by providing funds to create a fish farm. The fish farm will consist of two ponds, which will be stocked with tilapia and with catfish. The program will provide food for the orphanage and a marketable product for the region. The second project will be to drill a water well to provide clean water. Their only current water source is the local river, which is used by the livestock and is not safe to drink. Imagine the impact that a local source of fresh water and fresh fish will have upon the orphanage and the local community. These are truly sustainable changes that will lead forward to self-sufficiency.

ICF has supported a fish farm project previously, in Ghana. Last year ICF worked with our ministry partner in Ghana to install a similar fish farm. The project is providing fresh fish – a wonderful source of protein – to the mission and a future source of micro-commerce as they sell the surplus to the local villagers.

Regular giving helps us support projects like this one in Togo. We call these donors Hope Ambassadors because they help ICF to provide critical resources to those who truly face life and death needs in Africa and India.

Through your generosity, ICF partners are working diligently to bring hope and practical resources to thousands of children and families in desperate circumstances in many severely impoverished areas of Africa and India.

Please know that every gift, no matter how large or small, is an answer to our prayers and an investment in the life of a child. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your continued prayers and financial support.
