For our forty-ninth year, we were able to make a sustainable difference in the lives of desperately poor children and their families thanks to our generous supporters.
With your help, we were able to make 2024 a truly remarkable year for providing lifesaving aid. Last year, our work knew no bounds. From food distribution, housing, and medical services to farming, animal husbandry, water wells, and educational programs, the International Children’s Fund was on the frontline tackling immediate issues and developing solutions for generations to come. Last year we delivered more than 1.6 million nutritious meals to hungry children and their families in Africa, India, and Pakistan. Alongside feeding programs, we invested in sustainable agriculture, animal husbandry, and fish farming projects at our local missions. Through this dual approach, we fought hunger by providing food and cultivating sources of micro-commerce to strengthen the community’s well-being moving forward.
Alongside access to nutritious food, we drilled twenty-three new wells to bring clean water into communities plagued by deadly waterborne illnesses. This fresh water means health, safety, and a better local economy for more than 50,000 villagers in some of the most rural, impoverished areas.
Through the provision of approximately 3.7 million doses of medicine, healthcare remained one of our top priorities. These medicines treated illnesses ranging from malaria to AIDS and were distributed in our clinics and those in the local communities. We completed the construction of our new medical clinic in Togo this past year, which will provide desperately needed resources that were previously out of reach. Our ministry partners continue to steward deworming tablets, treated mosquito nets, and other medicine to the most vulnerable children.
Finally, we made progress on the construction of our new Girls College in Liberia, which is expected to be completed in 2025. This project, like many of our other education and training projects, will empower women from across Africa to break the chains of poverty and gender inequality.
